I”m pleased to announce the first session in a three-part webinar series on Antibody Identification (ABID) — a critical area of practice in transfusion science and red cell serology.
Session 1: Tools of the Trade will provide a solid foundation in the basic techniques and principles of antibody investigation. Whether you are new to the field or looking to strengthen your understanding, this session is designed to be informative, practical, and applicable to your work in the lab.
Topics covered will include:
- The role of panel cells, the Indirect Antiglobulin Test (IAT), and enzyme techniques
- Grading of reactions and inclusion/exclusion methodology
- Use of phenotyping and genotyping in antibody identification
- Applications of the Direct Antiglobulin Test (DAT) and elution techniques
- Common challenges and how to address them
Helen Thom, an experienced biomedical scientist and national RCI development lead, will guide participants through the tools of the trade with practical insight and case-based examples.
