Morphology Monday | Case MM251110

A 28-year-old female was referred to haematology after routine pre-operative blood tests revealed abnormalities on the full blood count. She reports occasional easy bruising but no significant bleeding history. There’s no recent infection, and she is otherwise well.

FBC Results:

  • Hb: 122 g/L

  • WBC: 6.8 × 10⁹/L

  • Platelets: 62 × 10⁹/L

  • MCV: 89 fL

  • MCH: 30 pg

A peripheral blood film was prepared for further investigation:

What morphological features do you notice on the film, and what possible underlying condition comes to mind?
